For years in a row, the supply of office space in the Netherlands decreased, reaching the lowest level in 2021. In 2021, there was a total of about 4.9 million square meters of office space available in the Netherlands, down from 5.5 million square meters in 2020. While demand for prime offices has continued to be high, redundant office space has been lagging behind. As the new regulation that offices need to meet energy label C or better coming in force from 2023, many office buildings are at risk of not meeting the target, meaning that supply is likely to further shrink in the near future.
